Our Story

Hmong Baptist Church started as a mission under Baptist Temple in 1981 and became a church in 1999. We belong to the Southern Baptist Convention whose main office is located in Atlanta, Georgia. Hmong Baptist Church is also associated with the Hmong Baptist National Association in Oakdale, Minnesota.

Rev. Lee was the first pastor for this congregation from 1981-1983. From 1983-1994, Reverent Pa Toua Vang was the pastor. The congregation grew to 78 families and founded 5 missions throughout California. In 1994, Rev. Pa Toua Vang left Hmong Baptist Church to lead a new mission in Hickory, NC. After Rev. Wa Tra Xiong left, Chuck Lu Vang was ordained to be the pastor of Hmong Baptist Church. Until recently, Pastor Cha Yang is now ordained as the new Senior Pastor of Hmong Baptist Church.
